Game theory can be interesting! Mr. Dixit and Mr. Nalebuff have created a book that truly engages the reader. “Thinking strategically” is crammed full of anecdotes and genuine historical events in which game theory can be applied.
I particularly like the layout of the book. It begins with “Ten tales of strategy”, where the reader is gently eased into this concept of thinking. At the end of each chapter, there is another case study which specifically highlights the issues raised in that particular section. Finally, there are huge array different examples to conclude the book – though I did not find these quite as engrossing.
This book serves as a fantastic introduction to game theory. However, it is only an introduction. I realise a book which can explain the complexities of game theory would be full of perplexing formulae and mathematical equations, rendering it difficult to read.
All in all, this book is definitely worth a read. Be sure to check the library regularly though as I’m sure it will not stay sitting in there long!
